Meditations: Being A Leaf When the World Feels Loud
Monday brought another small storm.
Work emails. Questions. Pressure. Little things stacking on top of each other until my nervous system started acting like the sky was falling.
From what I gather, this is normal for everybody. Every week seems to bring a few small storms. I am not doing anything wrong. This is just life.
Lately, I have been reminding myself that I do not have to control the whole forest.
Sometimes I am just a leaf in the wind. Sometimes I am just a flower in a hard season.
A leaf does not control the weather. A flower does not stop the rain. They simply keep reaching for light where they can.
We are allowed to be softer than the world around us.
We are allowed to rest.
We are allowed to stop trying to predict every storm.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Feel your feet on the ground.
Right now, it is enough to be here.
I wish thoughts like this reset me completely, but sometimes I can still feel the anxiety moving through my body. On those days, I look forward to simple things: kids home, pajamas, a comforting dinner, a cup of tea, an early bedtime.
It is not that bad.
But it would be useful if the world would calm down a little.
