Three Ways to Wear a Little Shine

This mother-of-pearl statement necklace was one of those pieces that gave me the immediate “oh” factor.

A little shiny. A little dramatic. A little unexpected.

And the more I wear it, the more I realize it doesn’t belong to just one kind of outfit.

Look one: over a high-neck lace blouse with a ruffled collar. Romantic, old-fashioned, almost Edwardian—but with enough scale to keep it from feeling precious. Date night.

Look two: with an off-the-shoulder open-knit, almost fishnet-style top. More relaxed, a little beachy, a little bohemian, with the shell catching the light against all that texture. Work look.

Look three: with denim. Because I will almost always find a reason to put something glamorous against something practical. Anytime.

That may be what I love most about statement pieces like this. They don’t have to wait for a special occasion.
