FIELD NOTE and/or PRIVATE DIARY ENTRY )(*(JKDSFKJIU(0k&^*$^: SEASONAL FOLIAGE CHANGE
Seasonal foliage change is occurring.
I have been waiting for this.
The chlorophyll is breaking down, allowing other pigments already present in the leaves to become visible. This produces yellow, orange, red, and brown coloration before leaf separation.
Earthlings appear to enjoy this process very much.
They drive considerable distances to observe leaves dying.
I am beginning to understand this.
I wore the WOACA suit today.
Skinny jeans. Combat boots. Hooded jacket. Hair secured inadequately on top of head.
Alien keychain.
I still find the keychain funny.
Marbles rode in the backpack.
I purchased the seasonal pumpkin beverage from Moonchange because apparently foliage observation has an associated beverage.
It tastes mostly of sugar and spices.
I like it.
The red leaves appear first along the outermost branches.
Some trees change unevenly.
Some remain green while the tree beside them has already begun turning orange.
This does not appear to concern the trees.
I was observing one particularly red specimen when Bradley came down the path with several other teenagers.
I have not finished teenagers.
Bradley said something was “wicked.”
His voice changed halfway through the word.
Everyone laughed.
Bradley's voice has begun changing.
It appears to be doing so without Bradley's consent.
This is fascinating.
Bradley did not appear to find it fascinating.
Immediately following the laughter, Bradley attempted a skateboard maneuver considerably more dangerous than whatever he had been doing before.
I recorded the sequence:
voice crack → laughter → embarrassment → risk-taking → successful trick → Star is impressed → Bradley pretends none of this mattered
I believe the final stage is important.
Bradley behaved as though the trick had not been performed specifically because everyone laughed at him.
Star behaved as though she had not become more interested in Bradley after the trick.
Everyone appeared to understand both things.
No one acknowledged either.
Teenagers are exhausting.
Bradley's body is changing.
Bradley's voice is changing.
Star's perception of Bradley may also be changing.
The leaves were falling around them while this occurred.
I do not think anyone else noticed that.
After they left, I continued walking.
The temperature is lower than it was eleven days ago.
There are more leaves on the ground.
Marbles shifted in the backpack.
She weighs approximately 3.8 kilograms.
She has gained weight since I found her.
This is good.
I do not know when extraction begins.
Red pigmentation is more common when autumn days are bright and nights are cool.
Marbles purred against my back for approximately forty-three seconds.
Some leaves have already fallen.
I do not know whether extraction will hurt.
I stopped walking after writing that sentence.
I do not know why.
Headquarters has not provided information concerning the physical experience of extraction for Earth organisms.
I could ask.
I do not think I want to ask.
Marbles does not know about extraction.
She was watching a squirrel.
I gave her a small piece of the snack I brought even though it was not intended for cats.
She liked it.
The leaves are beautiful because the tree is withdrawing what it needs from them.
Then it lets them go.
Earthlings know the leaves will fall.
They still come to see them.
They take photographs.
They drink pumpkin beverages.
They walk underneath them.
They say things like look at that one.
I did this today.
I said it to Blue-Marbles.
She did not look.
How much time do I have with my cat?
This is not relevant to seasonal foliage change.
I am leaving it in the field note.
END NOTE
PS NOTE: Cat wants me to call them Blue-Marbles hyphanated. They were attached to other name but likes my rename as well. So this was the compromise. Blue-Marbles.
