XUDE’S Diary: Third Employment — Administrative Services AKA Grifting Via Admin

I have secured the third part-time employment requested by Headquarters.

I would like this achievement noted, as Headquarters has repeatedly suggested that three simultaneous forms of employment would improve the authenticity of my research. I remain unconvinced that exhaustion improves observational accuracy, but I am complying.

Today I discovered another small Earth economy.

My employer pays approximately 100 currency units to one third-party platform and 160 to another so that we may be approved to provide services to other companies.

When we cease providing services to one of these companies, however, there appears to be no mechanism for removing them from our account.

I searched.

I am not permitted to disconnect them.

I contacted the company we no longer service.

No response.

I contacted the third-party platform we pay.

No response.

The platform does, however, continue to send automated messages reminding us that our approval with the company we no longer service requires renewal.

This portion of the system functions exceptionally well.

I am beginning to understand an Earth business model I have provisionally named Administrative Grifting:

  1. Require participation in platform.

  2. Charge participant for access.

  3. Provide no apparent means of leaving obsolete relationships.

  4. Do not answer requests for assistance.

  5. Continue issuing automated demands for renewal.

  6. Presumably collect additional currency from anyone sufficiently confused, frightened, busy, or exhausted to comply.

The humans seem to regard this as normal.

I have copied my superior on my latest request so that another human may witness me asking a company we pay to please allow us to stop doing something we are not doing.

I believe this is called customer service.

Further research required.
